Welcome  to the Villa Lewaro Madam CJ Walker Estate, A National Historical Landmark. The Villa Lewaro is located in Irvington-On-Hudson, New York. It is an Italianate villa house designed by Vertner Tandy, the first registered African-American architect for the Madam C.J. Walker. The Villa was built during 1916-1918 at a cost of approximately $250,000.00. It is a lavishly furnished 30-room mansion. The name was coined by Enrico Caruso, a great Italian tenor. He took the first two letters from Leila Walker Robinson; daughter of Madam Walker. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1976
